The Motion Collective is an entity based out of Portland, Oregon, dedicated to the pursuit and transmission of film images, icons, and impressions. We have made various short films, most recently the carbon-infusion drama The Carbon Augury, but are also available in other fields such as project cinematography, scriptwriting and editing. The Carbon Augury – Best Experimental Film

The International Festival of Cinema and Technology (as described below) gave The Motion Collective's 2008 film The Carbon Augury the award for Best Experimental Film. The festival took place in a lovely new theatre, the Downtown Independent, just north of Los Angeles' Old Bank District, and was shown alongside other fascinating, strange and magical works.

Some of the highlights included "Calamaris," by Markus Huber (www.mareone.multimediaart.at), "In Your Eyes," by Gregory McKneally (www.photonshepherds.com), "De-Limited," by Aravinth Vince Kesavamoorthy and Alan So (de-limited.blogspot.com), and "The Following Preview" by Kevin Roy (www.kevinroy.com).

Thanks to the organizers of this event, especially Isaac Alexander, and those intrepid filmmakers who participated in this fun and enriching display of film art and craft.

Thanks for the kind words about De-Limited. Unfortunately, we were unable to attend the festival, and missed out on what seems like a great festival.

The Carbon Augury

The earth steals his carbon, but prescient to his perdition, he foresees a lengthy half-life, which includes the proper inhalation of ancient ecologies.
